EPG Partners with FIBO KMUTT to Develop AI-RAG System, Driving Digital Transformation

Eastern Polymer Group Public Company Limited (EPG) is advancing its digital transformation through a strategic collaboration with Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO) Institute at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) to develop a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) system, an advanced AI technology that will revolutionize internal knowledge management.

Dr. Chalieo Vitoorapakorn , Deputy Chief Executive Officer of EPG, revealed that EPG has consistently prioritized the development of digital infrastructure and data management, particularly in making organizational knowledge easily accessible, accurate, and effectively applicable to business decision-making. The project originated from the needs of the AEROKLAS team, which sought to enhance corporate data management. "We aim to create a system that enables everyone in the organization to efficiently search for and leverage organizational knowledge from documents, manuals, training videos, and management processes, ensuring all departments share the same understanding and communicate effectively. AEROKLAS will serve as the pilot company, with subsequent implementation across EPG's subsidiary companies," said Dr. Chalieo.

Mr. Ekawat Vitoorapakorn, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of EPG's Automotive Parts and Accessories Business and Managing Director of AEROKLAS, explained, "The RAG system functions as a closed-loop ChatGPT that stores, analyzes, and processes data exclusively for internal organizational use. Its key strength lies in information security as data remains protected from external leakage. The project's objectives span three dimensions: 1) Time Efficiency: The RAG system will reduce data search time by 60-80%; 2) Operational Performance: It will enhance overall work efficiency by 20-25%; 3) Cost Management: It will reduce routine tasks, decreasing short-term operational costs by 10-15%, with a mid-term target of 20-30%. This initiative transcends only technology adoption and it establishes a robust foundation to significantly strengthen AEROKLAS's long-term competitive capabilities," Mr. Ekawat stated.

Ms. Maliwan Kittiwiriyakarn, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Information Technology of EPG, emphasized, "Today's business competition is not measured only by sales growth but also by internal cost management efficiency, which is crucial for competitive advantage. Implementing the RAG system, or 'Chat EPG' as we call it for simplicity, will enable knowledge sharing across all business units, allowing employees to access information faster and resolve issues more accurately. Knowledge is preserved despite personnel changes, and importantly, the more employees use 'Chat EPG,' the more their skills and capabilities will develop," Ms. Maliwan concluded.
